Wow, lightning striking that close to you...that is crazy!!

Hope your oven issues get resolved--I know I'd be at a loss for how to cook without my stove, too.

As a safety feature, most gas stoves have a valve that will only let gas flow when the stove is hot. It's usually somewhere near the pilot light, and will let enough through to keep the pilot light lit.

Man, if surprising a raccoon is a near-death experience, then I live on the edge! There's a family of raccoons that spend most of the late afternoon and early evening rummaging through the dumpster at work. We've learned to make lots of noise if we're going to throw something away.

There's also this totally awesome white deer with brown spots that I see almost every night. It's kind of neat working in the middle of semiprotected land.

Even nature is trying to get you to move!

Either that, or the lightning is offering itself as a novel way of cooking food.
