Yep. The garbage disposal is dead. But thanks to everyone for making suggestions... there is a little button hidden on the bottom that pops in and out. Toggling it didn't help one bit. It seems the blades just kind of seized up on their own at some point

I have installed a garbage disposal before. It would be pretty hard to screw-up. But do run lots of water through it and look for leaks. Not that it would be your problem if it did.

It was a quite disgusting job with the 20 years or so of grease stuck everywhere.

At least it's getting fixed. How long do you have til you can get outta that place?
