So, with the demise of the dinner plans I'd been looking forward to for days, I decided to cook up something simple ( Read more... )

What you need is a good sandwich and a new place to live.

Sadly, I cannot offer you either at this point in time. But journey on, my friend - and stay away from the toaster oven. I have a bad feeling about that.

But sammiches are for lunch!

At least when I'm working.

Because, y'know, eating out is expensive. And I always eat too much when I do that anyway.

Good news is, I don't have a toaster oven... I have a microwave/toaster/oven. The microwave keeps the other two parts in line. It's treated me better than any other appliance except for the Foreman grill (those two are tied for super appliance behavior kudos). :)

Worse comes to worse, nothing beats peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. Forget the issues and responsibility that comes with an apartment and lose yourself in nostalgia.

I briefly considered PB&J. Then I decided all that high fructose corn syrup would be a bad idea.

That and I don't want to over-sugar myself... I do have to get up for work in the morning. (And hitting a total sugar crash too early in the night would just cause problems... and impact the things I want to get done before I go to sleep.)

PB&J is a semi-regular fall-back meal. Usually on weekends when I'm really feeling lazy... or on work days when I haven't motivated myself to go and pick up some cold cuts for the week's lunch.

Tom owns this fascinating machine that turns cold sammichs into delicious hot and crispy meals. It looks like a waffle iron but is completely different. You will never look at sandwhiches the same after cooking it up in one of these babies.

I learned a long time ago that most of life is just one big joke.

Granted, the joke's on us... but that doesn't mean we can't cultivate an appreciation for the humor of it all.

I also decided long ago that if people were going to laugh at me anyway, it may as well be on my own terms. :)

There's a reset button on my disposal?

Have you been hiding under my sink checking out my plumbing?

'cuz, y'know, that would be awesome. ;)

yeah, there should be a little button that will "reset" it underneath (not the most obvious thing)-- hope that fixes it :)

check to see if the circuit breaker on the disposal is popped out. if it is, push it back in.

and if you're wondering what might pop it, having a ton of crap in there preventing the blades from turning.
