Ok, is it bad if you actually WANT dreams like that and actively try to evoke such dreams? The other day I was playing Condemned: Criminal Origins and finished the infamous "Deserted (evil) shopping mall" level with demented mannequins and this really, truly fucked up Xmas music playing... it was really unsettling. Then I got excited and hoped it would provoke screaming gory death dreams. To lock that evening's possible mental freakshow in I watched Poltergeist. It didn't work, which was oddly disappointing.
What do you think your dreams meant? What would you consider your most disturbing dream?
Heck, I used to wish for nightmares. Just so I could find out what scares me. Like I said, I didn't find the (second) dream scary... just disturbing and, mostly, annoying.
These dreams didn't mean much. I think the first is pretty obvious (and, uh, accurate). The second I wouldn't waste my time looking for deeper meaning. It was one of my totally cinematic dreams--not at all unlike an actual episode of CSI or a survival horror film
( ... )
hehehe... I would have preferred it be more like one of our games. There would have been a better soundtrack, that's for sure. And more special effects. Mutilated bodies are only impressive the first few times they show up. Fancy monsters never go out of style. :)

Wow you have nightmares. I haven't had a nightmare in years, actually mine aren't even nightmares as much as they were anxiety-mares. I think some time in the past my subconscious got high and gave up on bad dreams. It went to emasculation for a while but its even given that up.
Now they're just odd if I even remember them at all.
And sorry huys the games invoke no bad dreams. I think my fat belly scares me more than Cthulhu. :)
hehehe... nope. Dreams like that just pop up for me. That's one of the reasons they don't really bother me. Mostly, they just annoy me because some are less pleasant than others... and yet, they're still better than so much TV and so many movies I've watched over the years. :)
I'm amazed you were lucid enough in your dreams to STOP a potentially awkward encounter. Even when I've become aware that I'm dreaming, I typically can never alter the events of the dream or "change" the landscape/people/circumstances of what's going on.
I hate violent dreams, but I'm thankful I only get them rarely. My dreams, when they're vivid, typically involve some really weird philosophical/spiritual theme...
Thing is, it doesn't always work. Depends on the type of dream.
Since that first one was pretty much just a carnal release, once I realized it was a dream, it was no real problem to stop it. (Well, no more problem than it would have been if it were really happening...)
The second dream I wasn't directly involved in and, therefore, couldn't assert any control over it at all. Best I could do was change the camera angle or wake up.
Sometimes, though, like in the dream I mentioned in response to glittergrrl69's post, I get a bit "locked in" to some things and can't get out no matter what. Those are usually the important ones (for one reason or another).
I don't mind violent dreams. It's the violent dreams that don't read as dreams that are the problem. The ones that feel more real than dreams are the ones that bother me. Those don't crop up all that often. Thankfully.
