It comes in handy. Though, despite the amount of darkness I can smell on this world, I don't sense as many Heartless as I do on other worlds.

Do these Animus keep the Heartless population low?

I can. Their scent is unmistakable, though they themselves are fairly weak compared to other breeds of Heartless.
