I'm finding this whole LJ thing rather depressing at the moment. Almost all of the posts are negative in some way, tales of woe, bad weather, bad people, crap jobs, no money etc, you get the idea. If I wanted to be depressed I'd watch Eastenders ( Read more... )

I think this may be because people use their journals for *rantage* and stress relief, whereas they may feel less need/compulsion to post about good things!

lol, you use it for rantage and stress relief :P

Seriously, the whole point of a journal is like a diary thats public, all topics, everything, is supposed to go in there.

I can only imagine that of late peoples lives are a bit on the stressful/sad side of the fence as it wasn't always this way. Ironicly its the americans on my friends list that are the most cheery recently!

If people are only going to post the negative stuff we should change it to emojournal >:]

I posted cheerful things last week! But, er, they were the things you were with me at, so maybe not that interesting... :(

Yes you did, but that was last week, I'm commenting on the last 2 days worth of posts!

And the parts that where good, with you, where too numerous to mention and as I didn't feel like writing an essay I just put it was good >:]

Surely the various "Life is crap" comments are designed to cheer up everyone who's pissed off by letting them know that everyone else is having a equally bad time too. Posting coments about what a good time you're having just causes stress and trauma to all those people having a bad time, and is thus cruel and probably illegal :)

That could be true, but I would also like to think it does work the other way, and that if you see someone else is doing ok then it can happen to you too!

Perhaps we are too used to the "black" way of life to be optomistic?
