The famed military theorist and author Carl von Clausewitz famously stated that "war is the continuation of politics by other means." However, the inverse is also true -- politics is war with fewer explosions but no less damage. Politics is, quite simply, how decisions are made about who lives and who dies, who eats and who starves, who prospers ( Read more... )

Yeah. This, difficult as it is to pull off, makes total sense.

We have a new field coordinator for Obama here. He's meeting with people in the next two weeks to find out what the key concerns are, etc. And once again, despite my abysmal experiences the last time around, I'm off to volunteer....

It is difficult to pull off! When people feel threatened or angry it's very hard to think instead of react. They know how to push our buttons. But the battle is ours to lose. The Republican party is a mess right now. If we can keep our eyes on the ball we will win.

I am busily spreading the word every single place I possibly can--the point of replying to every post on my flist about in the last three days--and linking back to this post.

Thank you. I worked as a professional activist and in Democratic politics for a decade and a half, and unfortunately had a good chance to see how damaging Rove's strategies could be.
