I would pretty much bet that patent shoes at TopShop will be vinyl, not leather. I believe that the usual recommendation is something like mild soap or Windex for cleaning; you can't seal it; and if the scuff won't come off with a white art eraser, fill it in with WiteOut for the white part or felt-tip pen for the black part.
I am surprised! Actual leather-patent leather is a rare beast! BTW, there is a Rainbow Shops store near me that has spectators, so I wonder if they are a Trend this spring?
I am right chuffed. It's my great hope that these are a European trend that will soon become more popular stateside. Then I will buy a dozen pairs and hoard them against future Oxford shortages.
I've been seeing them on the streets quite a bit lately, so I'm guessing they're out in a number of different stores. One of my new favorite pairs of shoes (since last fall) is a pair of black ankle boots with brogue detailing that I got at Bass.

And I have heard the Vaseline a couple of different places. Maybe I'll try it on the tongue or something and see what happens.
