Darker than Black (DTB) Report!

Sep 22, 2009 21:48

Well, finally I moved up my lazy butt to write a report about a new anime series I finished to watch recentely. I mean "Darker than Black".

I spent around two weeks watching it with Spanish subs, and I what I have to say is it's an odd series.

Here goes the first opening...

Se me olvidaba...A mí November 11 no me recuerda a Van, si no a Solomon.

Jajajjajaja!

Lately I've noticed a clear evolution in anime. It's pretty obvious if you take a look at the later Slayers series (for example) and you compare them with newest series such like "FullMetal Alchemist", "Blood+", "DeathNote",I think you're right, and I think it's at least partily because the audience of anime, at least in wester countries, has been changing for some time now. More and more adults seem to be watching anime. Of course, silly stuff and such is still being made, but it seems that more attention is paid to series like DN. Well, that's at least one theory. Could be just the reflection of the times. Personally, I mostly avoid too depressing stuff. I get that enought from real life ( ... )

Indeed. There is certain change in the type of anime that is being available among westerm countries. Perhaps this is the current tendency, to be more "Realistic" and "serious", as the older animes tend to be more the typical manga style (very big eyes, coloured hairs, the same-face-for-all-characteres, etc...) I don't know if it's because we, western fans, are getting interested in those animes... or if it's because this is the current tendency in Japan.

I like DN, too. And this is perhaps one of the most realistic human portraits I've seen in anime. None character is pick haired, for example. Still, DN fandom and real DN has nothing to do with each other... that's why I avoid the fandom >_I can understand why DTB didn't hook you. I has an odd approach to storyline, and certainly it seems you never will get enough explications about what's going on. The end is... an end, but yeah, it could have a sequel. Perhaps the reasons you pointed out are the cause DTB isn't very popular. I tried to put aside those facts I(perhaps a second view ( ... )
