A new life!

I go through this phase roughly once a year where I reflect on old friendships and evaluate. Which ones are worth maintaining? Which ones are possible to maintain? What people have I alienated from myself without realizing, or vice versa? Was I important to the people who were so very important to me at one time? This is the last time I'm doing ( Read more... )

I'm so glad things are working out for you! I do the same kind of thing I think. It helps that I moved so far... I can probably count on one hand the people I still call and want to see when I go back east/ want to come visit me here.

That being said... you know you have an open invite and a place to crash in Chicago (or wherever I am really).

I think its interesting to do something like that each year. There are a few people from my old life that I know will always be there, regardless of if we're in touch or not. You, Jenn, Adam...

Beyond that I am making new friends, and a new life and I can't say that its the easiest thing to do, but it definitely builds a new person. Its exciting. We're all growing up. Its just the next step. Its nice to see us all do our own thing.

I don't miss much from home, except sometimes the easy friendships. But that comes with the territory of getting older I think. And now, after a while here in Boston, I feel firmly befriended.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm getting okay with letting people go, and also with letting them back in. It makes life a lot less lonely when you don't worry about the people who don't happen to be there at the moment.

It's crazy to think that we've known each other for 10 years this fall - I feel like even if wanted to get rid of you two we're stuck... we have too much dirt on each other anyway.

It is funny how "home" isn't home anymore. Although I know I've been feeling something like homesick (which is relatively new for me) when I actually said something about going "home" not "back east"- which is my usual go-to.

I think I just miss being a kid. I do love Chicago.
