HoND, chapters 48-50

Victor Hugo, for all his faults, is really good at describing things. Sometimes he focuses this description on architecture, and my eyeballs glaze over. Other times he focuses on people, and I start to enjoy the book. And other, other times, he does action scenes. Those times, I am filled with a mix of delight and horror.
