since Ginko from set will be too obvious, can you tell about Shannon from the opposite of lucid dreaming? can't think up any specific prompt, but anything Shannon-related will be wonderful -)
ooh, that was an unexpected choice. thanks for that -- i'm not sure i can attempt this meme with him, but i'll try.
a. this is embarrassing and a bit of a long story, but: i have a soft spot for the seiyuu miki shinichirou, and at one point a lot of the anime series i had watched/was watching included characters voiced by him. so i thought that i'd try writing a short fic for every character he's voiced (whom i knew). thus the shannon fic. to be fair, i more or less liked shannon on his own merits, too -- and i found it interesting how pliable he was, so to speak, being controlled by various forces throughout the series, whether for good or for evil.
b. how much he cares for his siblings, i suppose!
c. his stubborness -- the whole matter of suin, for instance.
d. i only wrote him once, and that was several years ago. i don't remember if i found it particularly hard -- but i think he's not too mysterious a character, overall.
e. i realise now that the fic is less about shannon and more about his predicament. um -- maybe Those are
( ... )
thank you! I hope it wasn't too enconvenient, but I love Shannon very much, and pretty much nobody writes him good. or writes him at all. and you nailed him so precisely, with tiredness and stubborness and always being here to protect; so much duty, but always with love.
and this little scrap? just lovely, thank you again.
*off hoping that somebody will ask about Ginko after all*
a. i became an instant kabuto fan when his smileysempai!self appeared in the manga, but i don't think i felt any urge to write him until his whole orochimaru seekrit agent side was revealed. i really liked his ambiguity, i suppose, and the idea that the only side he's on is his own.
b. his sneakiness. :D
c. HIS CHAPTER 356 MADNESS. WTF, KISHIMOTO. D: D: D:
d. man, i don't know. i enjoy writing him, but that's probably because i'm working from a simplified characterisation; i don't think that i manage to reflect canon!kabuto in my fic because i am really biased, hohoho. perhaps: i find it relatively easy to write kabuto, but really really hard to write in-character kabuto. :D
e. i would say It's a special sort of balancing act, knowing where and when to make your move; slipping in and out of your skin with the practised ease of one who has never found out what he is meant to be, and doesn’t care. but chapter 356 may contradict that, depending on whether you believe what he says there

heeeee. i like this meme, it gives me an excuse to babble for far too long about characters i like. :D thanks.
a. it is yamino! what is there not to like? *_* ahahaha, um. his grim expression in reaction to freyr's news in the final malora volume may have had something to do with it. yamino spends a lot of time being comic relief, so that was a strong moment. for my actual first-yamino-fic it was partly the miki shinichirou drabble effort and partly the general sense that there needed to be yamino fic, and if i was going to have to write it myself, so be it...! or something.
b. his devotion to loki? ._. i am fond enough of creepy!yamino fic and i wish i were capable of writing it, but secretly i just want lots of sappy yamino fluff and am unable to write anything except vague loki-related angst. ._.c. he spends a lot of time being comic relief? um -- i haven't actually given much thought to this idea (yet), and i should probably take a look at canon first, but i think that perhaps he's not capable of much general compassion,

thank you for such detailed and thoughtful answers!
if i was going to have to write it myself,so be it
which your readers are profoundly grateful for :D
he spends a lot of time being comic relief?
i can't recall much of the manga, though those parts were prolly cut from the anime due to time constraints. in the latter he comes across as being mostly benign (not harmless! but then the anime doesn't give him a chance to display that that little aspect of his personality known as the *World Serpent* :p)
he's not capable of much general compassion, outside his devotion for loki.
spot-on. but then again, he *is* supposed to be a snake, as you say.
i have a rather superficial interpretation of him
i respectfully beg to differ! besides, yamino *is* mostly about his devotion to loki - in canon, anyway.
i still have a maloki fic to write for the alphabet thingy
*awaits* but why are you semi-retiring from fandom in general?
comic relief -- more of a general impression than with reference to specific events, i guess? he comes across as mostly benign in the manga, too.
besides, yamino *is* mostly about his devotion to loki - in canon, anyway. i still wish i could write creepy yamino, though. D: my yamino is all about the loki polite bland niceness

buchou-samaaaa, are we ever having a jap club gathering? ;_;
um. i mean. have you watched mushishi? :O i didn't know that. but i'll answer the meme for ecchan first, i'm sleepy. ( i think your suggestion of characters is the most entertaining so far, ahaha. ) will fill it out for ginko tomorrow night. ^_^;;
a. it is small and cute and goes punyan! it was love at first sight. also, punyans need more representation in fic. *nods gravely*
b. it is small and cute and goes punyan! er -- it is highly useful, being able to serve tea and change form and all that.
c. it is constantly getting bullied and does not stand up for itself. ;_;
d. well, its dialogue is really easy, for a start...
e. wrote this for a meme last year:
"Punyaaa," Ecchan said solemnly, having led Loki and Yamino to the scene. It was strangely picturesque: the flowers, the green lawn, the young tree shedding autumn leaves over the body lying in its shade. The red leaves were especially attractive against the silver-and-black of Utgard Loki’s outfit

a. i liked ginko from the start, but initially thought that mushishi would be one of those series that i would never dare profane with my writing. ultimately i think i was interested in writing about ginko's approach to human relationships, and the 30_friends challenge happened to be around. although, looking back, i suspect that my first foray into mushishi fic was in an AU meme. ahahaha um.
b. he is relatively free of personal issues/angst. i think.
c. his Mushishi Ginko Is Always Right attitude, and how that can translate to doing things that he thinks are best for his cases without even telling them, like in that episode with the dreaming guy.
d. easier than anyone else in the series, at least, but that's probably because i have a really biased characterisation of him. i tend to do that for characters i like, i notice.
