This makes me an artist, right?

[No, it just makes me a geek.]

I'm proud of this screenshot I captured of my World of Warcraft character hitting level 70 (currently the highest level you can reach in the game). It's never easy to catch the yellow swirly animation when you level, because it happens instantaneously.  I also deliberately chose to be in this region of the game for its ( Read more... )

Win! I'm glad you got your shot - mine I just got the edge of the sparkle, and I'm dressed as a human, urg!

Congrats!

Oh that's right, you WERE dressed as a human! I never put the pieces together! I'm so sorry.

Hee, I saw that too, though I didn't notice it in the moment. It sounds really funny in context, doesn't it??

Sadly, there's a much more prosaic reason for it. To provide diminishing returns for people who sink their every waking hour into the game, you get increased experience for the first couple of hours you're logged on. The longer you've been offline, the longer it lasts. "You feel rested" at first, and when it wears off, "you feel normal." When I hit 70, experience stopped being relevant so I immediately ceased to feel rested. I guess I'm stuck as "normal" for the rest of time! 8(

Grats! Nice shot; I don't think that many people have screenshots of the precise moment they hit 70. <3

Oh, and I'm highly impressed by your lack of mods. My UI looks like something exploded on it.

Heh, I thought it was rather embarrassing. Perhaps I could call it "charmingly simplified" instead of "ignorant and naive." Finding quality mods is hard...I have a toddler-like attention span for it, then I get cranky. Mostly because I don't really know what I'm looking FOR, and also because I know so little about programming that I can't try to fix errors or use anything that requires user setup.

It's been one headlong rush to 70 (do you KNOW how hard it is to keep up with geepgal in anything gaming related??), so I had an excuse - I was power-leveling, and messing with stuff too much would throw off the "Alt & Zur Express" (now with tanking mage!). But the entire *point* of life after 70 is tweaking and refinement, so...guess I need to bite the bullet.

Now you can begin the mad rush for gear. :-P

(If you have even a vague idea of what you want to do, I can go through some stuff with you. I know you don't do vent, but I've heard there are these things called telephones that one can use to talk people through things.)

Except no! Because the VOIP has been unplugged forever because it jacks up the wireless signal! OK yeah, I know, there are also these things called cellphones...

Yeah, I'm working it on it. I've only had like 2 game hours since dinging, and as I said, I gave myself a pretty free pass before that (I've got more mods behind-the-scenes, not visible in battle). Still a bit overwhelmed - I knew there was endgame, but I just thought 70 was a bigger milestone than it's turned out to be. ENDGAME. Whoa. Now I know enough to realize when I don't know.

What we should do instead of this phone business is actually COME OVER TO YOUR HOUSE. Actually socialize OUTSIDE THE GAME. Insanity I know.
