Thanks for the recommendation. I'll keep an eye out for it. I gave up on Mary Stewert a while ago (and Victoria Holt before her) because their books are so predictable. I mean I guess all genre fiction is predictable to an extent, but take away the names and they were practically interchangable! But when I find something that really...stands out from the rest it's always fun :)

I can't believe you found it!!! I have my copy on my shelf after many years of hunting it down for my collection (I now own everything written by Madeleine Brent)

I was completely in love with this story and have read it many times over the years (it's probably been a good 7 years since my last read).

This was probably one of the best by MB, the other storye are just as good, but this was the crowning glory.

I found it at the library actually-can't buy it. :( But it was worth it-I'm sure her other books aren't as good but as you say I'm going to keep an eye out for them, anything by her has to be at least somewhat good.

It's been out of print for many years. A Library, used book store, or E-Bay are your best bets

Andrew McCarthy? Like, Pretty in Pink Andrew McCarthy? Eee!

Also, Teri Polo was a great minor character on Sports Night, one of my all-time favorite shows. I don't usually go in for Hallmark-type movies, but I just might have to check this one out, based on the cast (and your N&S comparison!).
