The Vampire Diaries?

So for the first however-many seasons of this show I stayed far far away because it triggered all of my warning bells for things I hate - melodramatic vampire plots, actors who can't act, and tiresomly cyclical love triangles (also none of the guys looked hot. Yes am shallow). However, recently I've run out of romantic TV shows - I watch and love ( Read more... )

For the no option, change the second half to 'thinks violating and abusing women makesbyou superhot and sympathetic'. The female characters themselves are just fine. I thought Estella/Pip was weldd done in the new Great Expectations. If you haven't sen them yet, Cranford and Wives and Daughters have nice romances. Pan Am isn't romance centric but the pairings get a lot of attention. All short stuff there though.

I LOVE Wives and Daughters and have watched it around 5 times. Cranford I found too boring at least initially to get through. And hmm, I've been wondering if the new GE was any good...will download and try out!

Also isn't there a possibility Pan Am will get cancelled? WAiting to see if it does

Re: VD - omg that's exactly the type of thing I was afraid of and which I heard bits of from flisties when the show first started

I enjoyed the first season of TVD a lot despite major problems, but season 2 started the downhill slope in almost the first episode. There was basically 1part of the firstepisode of this season that I liked and I haven't watched more.

basically ditto to what megan said. its not even the cheesiness which goes away after the first few eps, but how it devolves into this racist abusive spiral of misogyny and fuckery. It is the absolute worst and I dropped it mid season 2. I just had enough. no more. I wouldnt wish this subjected to anyone. if You do try it out dont be fooled by how good it seems in S1 (although there was some issues there too) because it gets shitty again really quick.

If you want to watch a cheesy romantic show then I highly reccomend Roswell! Its a mix of science fiction and high school drama.

Wildfire was also a pretty good romantic drama. It deals with a troubled girl, two cute guys, and horse racing. Its not a great show but its got some cute romantic bits.

Thats great! I wish the show got more love, I haven't met too many people that have seen it.

Oh, well sorry I couldn't help you out more. Have you ever tried novelas? They are super romantic and there is one that is completely subbed.

Most people I know on LJ have seen it actually, it's just that it's such an old show it doesn't get talked about much anymore.

and I've actually always wanted to try a novela, could you rec one/point me to the subbed one?
