Outlander and jdramas

HAVE BEGUN OUTLANDER.

At long last.

We shall see if all the hypes and recommendations actually mean anything.

I am also downloading the last ep of Tatta Hitotsu no Koi, which is one of the best takes on Romeo and Juliet that I've ever seen.

My life is happy.

outlander, happy

I hate Outlander. Active massive hate. But I am in the minority and I won't say why hate it because it's spoilery. So am curious what your take on it will be.

ETA: Errrrr, this isn't spoilery (nor is it the reason for my dislike) so I can mention it. You do know the whole premise is adulterous - heroine who goes back in time, hooks up with a Jacobite etc is married in modern world. I know you get unhappy about those sorts of things so a heads up.

eww, really? I thought she was just engaged - which is still a committment but not nearly the same thing. oh nooo...that doesn't sound good.

I actually got hooked on Terry Pratchett before I could get to Outlander so I'm not starting it until tomorrow anyway, but...UGH:(

Outlander is one of my faves. The first 50-100 are a bit slow but stick with it, it's worth it

I had such a thing for that book when I first read it. Like, serious, hand-flailing glee over it. Of course, I was thirteen, so hand-flailing was part of my daily routine. But I hope you like it.

I am just browsing through all the older Outlander books, having inhalded the 7th installment just a week ago.

Do I have to say, that I LOVE this series? Capital?
The whole "bigamious" relationship thing didn't bother me at all, the circumstances being as they were. (To say more would be spoilery.)
And for the rest, my personal suspicion is that many Outlander "haters" approached the book(s) under wrong premisses. THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE BOOK.
It's historical fiction, featuring people, who make choices good and bad and sometimes questionable. It has history, adventure, lots of drama (bad things happen - sometimes even to good people), humour, very little magic/fantasy AND one of the most enganging love stories I ever read.

So, now I'll retreat to skimm over the best scenes from Drums of Autumn again. :)
Btw, you can read Outlander as standalone, though if the bug bites you, you won't want to.
I took it with me as travel-lit to Edinburgh and HAD to buy the second book at a local bookstore there.
