Or check out the Short and Sweet Version- just the list, nothing else

DISCLAIMER: I've seen approximately 60 complete dramas in my drama-watching career, so of course there's many I haven't watched yet, particularly older ones. Also, my taste runs toward trendy dramas and angsty rom-coms -I've seen a grand total of two sageuks and one was a fusion ( Read more... )

Such an interesting list - half dramas I adore (Mars, Thank You, HGD, Meteor Garden) and half dramas I loathe (I have ridiculous amount of negativity for Hana Kimi and DBY). So interesting! Not surprising because we look for somewhat different things in our dramas (I adore sageuks and comedy usually loses me asap) but interesting - especially since your n.1 was my n.1 for a very long time.

yep - I would say we have almost exactly the same taste about 60-70% of the time, and the other 30% are polar opposites;)

I really need to see Legend..as the drama which knocked Mars off your #1 spot, it must be good.

I adored Soulmate's soundtrack. I think my iTunes top 20 most played songs include more than half of that soundtrack. The only thing that I didn't like that much was the fact that it took SO MANY EPISODES for the two to meet each other. Which I guess makes sense, because it made the anticipation and the final meeting so much sweeter. I adored the last few episodes, when they realized who they were to each other, the headphone scene, the scene where she randomly dials a number and gets him, the scene in the car when he realizes that SHE is the girl who called him, the scene at the park. GAH. It spoke to the deeply romantic in me.

I'm also starting Lawyers. I watched the first episode 2 weeks ago but I've gotten really busy and haven't watched anything Asian in a week so. . .when I settle back in to my routine, I'll start it again. It sounds good and you rave over it. . .and there's forced proximity? Wait, don't tell me how that happens. I'll watch it next week.

oh, by forced proximity I just meant how she works for him(and one other element which you'll see soon), they don't actually end up living together.

yeah, I agree, I would've loved Soulmate even/much more if they'd had them meet earlier, but the scenes which did involve them were so heartbreakingly good that I ultimately didn't mind(really wish there could've been a 2nd season).

It spoke to the deeply romantic in me. exactly:)

I totally agree with your line up but I'm a little surprised to see that Hana Yori Dango wasn't on there (Even though you do have MG).It usually has people a little brainwashed. I can understand you though. It was one of my top favorites for a while but I've realized it's not something I can re-watch and still have an interest in.

Mars was EXCELLENT and is one of the few taiwanese series I have seen. I can't express how much I love it.

you know, I love HYD to death but I think the first HYD adaptation you see always has a special place in your heart, and the first one I saw was MG. also, a prerequisite for almost all my favorite dramas is that I like and respect both leads equally, and while I ADORE Domyouji, I don't like/respect him quite as much as Makino.

Oh I can agree with you on that. I didn't respect him so much in the Jdrama. Actually, I think the only one I did respect him in was in the Korean version of the drama.

Oddly enough though, I couldn't respect the Makino character in ANY of the versions.

I really need to find a way to watch Mars -- drama-watching would be so much easier with high speed internet at home!

Hana Kimi...I love Oguri Shun and liked the parts he was in, but the rest really annoyed me. It made me laugh that the school required the students to meet a certain standard of hotness, and yet the majority of the guys weren't attractive at all. But Oguri Shun!

Well I actually loved Hana kimi. All of it, the over-the-top ridiculousness and the silly moments. I loved all of it. It is one of my favourite jdramas ever. Also - Soulmate. It is so sad that this drama/sitcom is so underrated. It deserves more popularity. It will probably be in my top5. And Brilliant Legacy - probably in the top 3. Haven't watched Lawyers of Korea, though and now you really made me interested in it. ^^
