Death and Taxes

My taxes are done.  Finished.  Finito.  I could not be more relieved.  I always try to get my taxes done early.  The thought of standing in line at the post office in hopes of getting that postmark date of April 15, or constantly refreshing a computer screen in vain because the TurboTax website is overloaded gives me hives.  I normally try to have ( Read more... )

And the sad part is, this is par for the course when it comes to this guy's ethics. I'm fairly positive that a large chunk of those "reported tips" he uped on my W-2 were from a party last March. The restaurant hosted a fundraiser for Obama for a group and charged 35.00/head. It included 20% gratuity for us servers. With 250 people, each of the 8 servers should have made roughly $215.00 that night. We each walked with $12.00. The owner pocketed that money, and I'm betting that now he put it on my W-2 as part of my tips.
Bastard.

That would be awesome. I mean, I'll settle for the restaurant closing, but the crotch rot would be hilarious. Especially if you knew him...he's very touchy - feely with gross, inappropriate jokes etc. ::: Shudder :::

Oh, he knows he's legally obligated to mail them out. He just doesn't care. This is how he runs his business. While I was still working there we would have to serve dinner shifts without linnens because he felt like he didn't need to pay his linnen delivery service. He took the water glasses off the table because he didn't want to serve customers the free beverage. Horrible. This is why I left. Honestly, I liked serving, and sort of wish I could still do it. It was some nice pocket change, and I was good at it. But the thought of working there turned my stomach so badly, I just couldn't bring myself to go to work one day.

And yes, thank god I kept those pay stubs. I had them all filed by month, along with my deposit slips for them. Part of that was knowing he's a sceeze bag, and the other part was fear that if I didn't deposit them immediately they would bounce. How sad is that...
