The Wedding

I have a confession to make.  I hate weddings.  I understand that I am a girl, and therefore required by laws of nature to get all teary-eyed and giggly at the mere mention of the word "wedding."  Honestly, I hate them.  I guess I'm wired incorrectly or something, but the thought of going to a wedding, especially as a jobless guest, sort of makes ( Read more... )

Oh my god. That is the worst wedding for you EVER. HORRIBLE!

My cousin is getting married in May. I dread that one. I've never in my life had a date to a wedding and every wedding I have been to since I turned 18 has turned into a "where's your man? when are you getting married?" nagfest-o-rama. Joy.

Oh yeah, and my cousin is 6 years younger than me and settled down with her fiance at the right age of 18. Which is what 95% of my relatives do and they all think I'm freaky for being 30 and single...or for being 19 and single back in the day too.

Oh yes, it was quite the experience. The worst part was there was no one to be mad at. I knew it wasn't the bride and groom's fault. They sat me with friends who said they were coming. It was just a series of truly unfortunate events. But it explains the New Year's resolution for having a date to any and all weddings in 2009.

Good luck at your cousin's wedding. Lord knows family weddings are always worse than others.

I figured you had some kind of bad story for the date resolution. But this was worse than I expected!

My one consolation on the wedding thing is that this is happening on the side of the family that generally isn't into marital nagging, and doesn't care if I have a boyfriend or not. Unfortunately, my future cousin-in-law's family, or my uncle's jerky relatives, are wild cards there. So we'll see. I am so glad that I'm unlikely to have to go to another wedding on my dad's side of the family again- they're the ones being all "You're next!" at 18.

Wow! That was one BAD wedding experience. You certainly handled yourself well. I loved your parting shot to that "good" Catholic couple (creeps). And you were very gracious to the bride and groom. Well done. :)

The dress you chose is lovely and I'm sure you looked great in it. Catholic priests shouldn't be acting too high and mighty these days, what with all the bad press they're getting.
