Wow. Heather.... that sounds like a fantastic place for a child to explore. Dangerous too but that's half the fun. Your Grandmother sounds like an incredible woman. *hug*

This was really nice to read, it sounds like a wonderful place. That feeling of not being able to appreciate things as an adult is saddening... but at the same time, I have a feeling that the way your childhood tinted those memories, your grandma and grandpa would have liked them anyway. In a way, the fuzzy details have made that place into something much more. And being able to remember it just honors them too.
