In one of my classes, we recently put on a production that was all about words. Why people react to them, which ones have power, how their meanings can be changed. It was a very powerful piece. I mean, I say things like "That's so gay" but I definitely don't mean it in an offensive way. It was just... something picked up from a friend or something? I don't know. But my gay cousin, he whacks me whenever I happen to say that, so I'm slowly being weaned off of saying it in an insulting manner.
