April 2012 SOTM
One of my favorite things about shrines is how different each one can be. Webmasters put themselves into their work, by writing about personal experiences, things they have learned, or things that interest them. This is why there can be four or five shrines to one character, and each one be a unique, rewarding visit. I especially love when webmasters play with the format of shrines, putting a spin on something we're all used to. I was able to recognize what this webmistress did as soon as I stumbled upon this shrine, and it took me back to my high school years, and AP English. I was immediately a fan, and I read through the whole site in one sitting.

Liberation
Aya Brea, Parasite Eve
Snow refers to her site as a "character study", and in it, she takes Aya Brea from the amazing Parasite Eve through Joseph Campbell's Monomyth. Not familiar with it? It's actually pretty interesting. Campbell hypothesized that every hero goes through a similar hero's journey. He mapped it out in his work, The Hero With a Thousand Faces. /literature nerd
Whether you're familiar with it or not, you will understand it by the time you're done reading Liberation. Simultaneously, you'll better understand Aya Brea as well. I love that.
I found the Archetypes particularly interesting, as not only Aya fits the mold of the hero, but supporting characters fit other archetypes in the mold. The whole site is definitely an interesting read.
