I think he's an idiot on anything to do with the environment, but at the same time, he has some decent points about the absolutely insane level of future debt the currently proposed budget contains (absolutely dwarfing anything in the history of this country).
Rush (by virtue of his career perhaps more than anything else) is in the business of self-promotion as well as promoting his ideal political bent. In his view the multiple trillions of debt the budget Obama is planning to sign off on (along with arguable nationalization of banks and plans to incrementally socialize healthcare) represents a threat to the nation's future economic security and economic freedom. As such he's going all out against the guy. By being a gigantic dick over the issue he gets personal publicity and publicity to the issue he's against.
Me? I don't agree with Obama on a number of issues, but I think he's a genuinely nice guy and I see this as a case of not caring who gets credit or blame, but I want the nation as a whole to do well. Congress however with some 8500 earmarks in a portion of the budget is a monstrous, bloated, one party with virtually monolithic power problem. I wish Obama would stand up to his own party's entrenched, good'ol'boys left-wing.
I know exactly what he said, I watched him say it on ABC World News. He said that he hopes that Obama fails. Do you know what happens if Obama fails? Our economy will collapse. What a bratty, asshole thing to say. He sounds just like a spoiled child. There have been other people who have publicly criticized Obama's policies, but they didn't do it like raging assholes.
Oh, and speaking of snide remarks: "Do you actually know what he said, or just what someone told you he said?"
I don't appreciate the assumption that I'm an uninformed idiot.
I wish you weren't so damned pussywhipped. Everyone knows that I have way too much influence over you and there isn't an original thought in your head. I guess the next time you decide to post your opinion in your journal, you need to take a month and research it to make sure your opinion can be cross-referenced and fact checked. For the record, I think he is nothing more than a fucking blowhard muckraker and I would be hard pressed to agree with the man (I use that term loosely) on the color of the sky.
