I've come to the conclusion that I am not, in fact, stupid. I am merely naïve, unworldly, and not very knowledgable. Phew. That's a weight off my shoulders, yessireebob

Was that the same day when we saw the unmentionable action movie, and I bought Belle and Sebastian? And it came with a free sample CD from Shock records, which had Sleater-Kinney on it, and we listened to it and were like "???'! Because I remember that. And I didn't really go to your house that often in high school, so that must be it. I have to go find me eels CD to listen to now. I don't think I bought mine though; when I did work experience at rubber records the boss got it sent to him as some sort of promotion and he gave it to me for free. Oh, and the discman was always a life saver, except whe n it ran out of batteries and I had no moeny to buy new ones. (which happened often).
Possibly - I remember of course seeing the unmentionable movie - but I never connected those two outing until now. And I remember how frequently the discman ran out of batteries - man, that thing cost you a fortune! We'd always be stuck trawling all the groceries on Swanston street until we found one with cheap batteries of the right size, ahh, the memories...
Heh. I guess that's one advantage of the iPod, although if it runs out of batteries you're screwed until you can get home and recharge it. And it realy was more than one discman. I don't remember how many there were! Remember the one with the lid that wouldn't shut? And the one where the headphone slot wouldn't work so you had to plug earphones into the lineout and the volume was so low. And the $30 purple one from Safeway, which indeed still works.
I don't remember the purple one - but I have the one with the lid that doesn't close in a drawer in my bedroom! It's totally stuffed, but it's a keepsake - I can't throw it out!
Hmm.. I tried to find some Eels songs after reading this, and it seems I can only get a song called "Novocaine for the Soul" and "Saturday Morning". Not bad at all, actually.
I haven't heard those two - I've only got the "Daisies of the Galaxy" (?) CD - I don't know that I'd buy it now, but it's so tied up with fond memories that I really enjoy it. I have to be in a specific mood though - I sometimes find his voice to be irritatingly grating. When you're in an Eels mood though - nothing else will suffice (well, except maybe Rasputina)
