I think the Writing Autobiographies subject is probably a better bet than the food one. Just becqause, in my experience, subjects with a kind of 'noveltly' title are always a bit...lacking. Plus, I want to read your autobiagraphy!
I had the Food lecture/tute today - and it was actually quite good! It sounds like it's going to be rather difficult (time wise at least) but hopefully it will be fun too. I need more fun in my life.
I think it could be really interesting. At least theoretically to look at the 'techniques' of storytelling in autobiography, because they certainly read differently to fiction, yet somehow seem also to remain overly fictiscious. mmm conondrum. Or there is so many interesting instances where the autobiographical and the fictional rupture, which means you could still add some fantasy beyond The End, im thinking vonnegut or bukowski off the top of my head.
Oh! You're an angel! I was trying to think of things I had read which had used both the real and the fictional - I'm going to sit you down and pick your brains for specific books sometimes soon!
And I'm feeling more yay for school now that I know I'm allowed to do this Art History subject. Hopeful for school!
(although the actual class is tomorrow - so it could be totally confusing and horrible and I'll have to drop out and peddle hotdogs for 40 years to pay of my HECS. Or maybe peanuts, everyone likes peanuts?)
I suggest entering unknown territory. Civil Rights would be a great choice specifically because you might not know what everyone is talking about. Gives you a chance to learn what you think you don't know.
Of course Writing Autobiography sounds fun, too... though I've never been very partial to autobiographies.
Unknown territory is good, yes, I totally agree with you. But... it's also daunting and scary and I am a coward at heart, so it's wave the white flag time and stick to stuff I know. Though this Art History subject is new ground, so at least I'm doing something vaguely out of my comfort zone.
