Ooh, it's exciting that L: Change the World is being shown here... but at the same time a bit disappointing, since I think it's sort of difficult to appreciate that movie without knowing more about L first. As much as I liked it, the other Death Notes movies were much better in terms of everything except for L's cuteness. It is what it is, a spinoff, and it doesn't make much sense to me to show a spinoff without the original series, and I feel like the average American audience won't be stunned by it. :( But I completely agree with L as the answer to the question.
I'm a bit confused by what you mean because the first two Death Note movies were both already released in the US. They were each shown for two days as a special engagement (although unfortunately dubbed into English instead of subtitled). Basically Viz just throwing us fans a bone. L: Change the World is also only going to be in theaters for 2 days (subtitled on April 29, English dubbed on April 30).
I agree that it really makes no sense to see this movie without already being a fan of Death Note. I'm sure Viz is only putting it in theaters for the hardcore fans, they're probably not looking to attract a new audience.
Ah, I totally misunderstood and thought you meant that the other two hadn't been shown here at all and that L: CtW was going to be the first one released. Oops! Thanks for explaining. :)
