Vol. 77 "Super Good Super Bad @ Yoyogi"
Yamapi's first Asian-wide tour began far from home in Hong Kong, but he celebrated his "triumphant return" to Japan during his May 8 concert at Tokyo's Yoyogi National Gymnasium. The following is Seventeen's concert report. [Yamapi didn't write it.]
"I want to share this feeling with you!"
It was just moments until the concert would begin. A video message from Yamapi, asking the fans in attendance to show him their smiling faces, played on the screens overhead. "I want everyone to have fun tonight. That's my job, but it's also my pleasure." For a concert that Yamapi had put so much thought and passion into making, the obvious choice for his opening song was "Daite Señorita", his solo debut single. The intro began to play, and the idol, wearing a bright red coat, took the stage amid the deafening roar of the music. The first song was followed by other early singles "Fever to Future" and "Seishun Amigo", sending the crowd into a frenzy!
"Yoyogiiiiii! Tonight, I want you to forget about aaaall your troubles!!!! All of you in the upper sections, I see you!!!!!" Tonight, Yamapi's impeccable fan service included riding in a cart throughout the arena in order to get closer to his fans. Surrounded by back-up dancers for the song "Tokyo Sinfonietta", he showed off his hot dance moves. Later, during his performance of the Japanese-style ballad "Tsumi to Batsu", the audience erupted into cheers of "Go, Go, Yamapi!" (This was the idea of ABC-Z's Kawai Fumito, who insisted it was "so uncool it's cool".) For his hit single "Hadakanbo" he opened the front of his jacket, revealing his bare chest to screaming fans. The normally calm Yamapi yelled, "I'm super pumped right now!! Thank you everybody!!!"
During the MC portion of the concert, Yamapi sent a special shout-out to his fans. "Seeing all of you at my concert makes me so happy. I want to share this feeling with you!" For his encore performance, he suddenly appeared in the second-floor stands, in a cart that took him to every corner of the arena. The idol seemed all the more happy to be surrounded by so many smiling fans.
Flash back three years. During a interview with Seventeen magazine, Yamapi had told us his dream of doing an Asian-wide tour. At the time we laughed and (rudely) voiced our doubts, but then he said to us, "Never forget what you just said. Because one day I will make it happen. I promise." He said this quietly and with determination. "It's better to have big dreams, because you can aim for something and work toward it! Plus, once you put your dreams into words, they are more likely to come true. I work hard every day, believing these things." Just like he promised, he has now finished his very first Asian-wide solo tour, and another one of his big dreams has come true.
MC segment: The flustered idol's "favorite color of underwear"?
During a question-and-answer session with fans, Yamapi told the audience, "Ask me anything!", and they did! A fan who said it was her birthday asked for his towel, which he gave to her gladly. His answer to a little girl's request for a hug was met with screams from the audience. Then a fan asked him the question, "What is your favorite color of underwear on a girl?" At this, the flustered idol blurted out, "Johnny-san, help me!" Not yet recovered from the shock, he said, "Any color is fine!", but the audience wasn't happy with his answer, and he shot back, "What else can I say? I'm 26!" He smiled apologetically and said, "When I turn 30, I hope to be such an open person that I can tell you my favorite color of underwear."
Inside and outside the arena
In front of the long line of fans waiting outside the arena was a shop selling concert goods. The penlight is a must-have--when the arena is full of sparkling lights, it looks like a dream world! Meanwhile, a press conference was being held backstage, with photographers from every media outlet pushing to get a picture of Yamapi. A Seventeen photographer struggling to get the perfect shot blurted out, "Yamapi! Smile!" At the sudden outburst from the stressed-out photographer, Yamapi couldn't help but
grin. [Click for photo.]
A concert full of Japanese motifs and traditional costume ♥
Because the tour covers many Asian nations, Yamapi wanted to give his concerts a unique Japanese feel. He even added a sword-fight segment that featured Japanese parasols, masks, and folding fans. For the traditional sword-fighting scene, the idol wore a long white sleeveless jacket with a dragon embroidered down the back!

Again, thank you to
watchful21 for the
scan. This took me a long time to translate, but I hope you enjoy it! I wanted to avoid putting pictures in my translation, because I want the words to stand by themselves, so I didn't translate the photo captions. They don't say much anyway! If I were a super techie person who did scanlations and such...but alas, I am not. Please accept me for who I am!^^ [Update: I added one photo because it goes with the text.]
Who loves Yamapi 1000x more because he promised to do an Asian-wide tour three years ago and then actually did it?!!
