tv!orgy time again

Life On Mars. All I could think was: "Hey, Tom Conti's back! meyerlemon  will be happy to see her tv boyfriend again." And now I know this is a remake of a Brit show and I'm THIS close to googling it and getting spoiled. I thought the Frequency moment on the radio with Lenny Kravitz's ex was hideously campy and the sepia tones are kinda ridiculous, but ( Read more... )

Hey what the hell is up?!

I know, right? I was squirming and saying "laaaame.." at least four or five times during Life on Mars. And yet, its wierdly entertaining. Its kind of reminded me of 24. It hits and misses so randomly and consistently that you never really take it all that seriously. You just enjoy it.

Plus i thought the vegetative time traveling was intriguing.. I'm considering spoiling myself too.

I'm conflicted on Dexter. I'm entertained and still laughing when Dexter does something awesome, but i miss the despair and eerie vibe of season 2. He's just so...happy. And normal. Its kind of freaking me out. Jimmy Smits is actually pretty good. Liking this weird take they going on with children inheriting dark traits.

I think THE best argument for how entertaining Life On Mars is is watching its direct competition, Eleventh Hour, which I'm told is also a remake of a BBC show. It's HORRENDOUS. The girl in particular... SOMEBODY buy those guys a shrink, because they're practically putting their mommy issues out there for all to see. Watching the two in the same night... I just can't imagine Eleventh Hour not getting cancelled pronto.

The latest Dex rocked because it cranked up the dark humor. And I'm also a little kind of in love with Deb now, also because of that awful show and what a contrast she is as a girl-cop. I think I was really not into her when the show started, but this season's been good to her so far. And Dexter and Jimmy Smits bonding over booze and daddy issues? That was gold, lol!

Lasr episode did rock. I was doing my normal Dexter routine with it. Watching it, again and again. All the dark shit is back.

The best thing about Dexter is how demented it is on real life. How Dexter solves real life problems, with his 'shadow self'. He doesnt understand anything meaningful until he murders someone. Haha. Awesome.

Glad you got it. Well, somehow at least, huh? I won't ask how they ended up where they did :p And it's good to know that a package to Romania takes only a few days longer than one to the US ;)

Should I check out Life on Mars? I've only seen a few episodes from the Brit version so far.

To be fair, I saw the post office notice thingie in the mailbox on Friday, but nobody picked it up over the weekend, so that's quite a few days off the deadline. :D Thank you! :-* It'll have to wait for a weekend marathon, because I'm afraid that if I get really into it I'll stay up until four am to watch all the eps. I know myself too well... ;)

Still - two days longer than to the US ;)

And wise choice! We had quite the marathon too with that show ;)

Hee, you and your tv orgies. Do you hunker down in your PJs with a giant tub of ice-cream? That's what I'm planning to do this weekend.

Out of curiosity, how highly would you rate Dexter? I have a friend who's obsessed with it and keeps pushing me to start watching, except his taste in movies/tv is a tad weird, lol, so I haven't been that motivated to hunt it down. The premise sounds interesting though.

I think I might also give Damages a try because I've heard so many people say how good it is.

I only used to do the ice-cream while watching Jack and/or Frank. I think of it as my sexy!time with the tv boyfriend. But hmmmm... that's an idea for the weekend. :D

I rate Dexter as fun first and foremost. It does deal with some pretty weighty stuff (holy crap and HOW!) sometimes, but it's the bitter dark humor that draws me to it. And the ocasional absurdity. I think life really is like that sometimes and when the show doesn't just tread water and blasts the darkhumor engine, it's worth every minute I wait for it to download.
