If you find a Book of Mormon and read a book in the back of it called, "Moses", you will find a description of what Sagan is describing...except the "apple" is a God and the "up" is out there and Moses sees all of everything and all of us. Sagan described it so perfectly. I guess my faith takes over at that point. I understand the feeling associated with the idea that comes with not being alone-that something bigger is around us or in us or among us. Sometimes, when I sense that Ghost feeling that you mention, it's almost physiological...like the inside of my chest is some how expanding and swirling with stars and its own cosmos. Tough to explain, but I'm so grateful you posted this. All of it.

I have a book of Mormon! I shall look it.

I know what you mean about the Ghost feeling...it is bodily. Like when you can feel the waves of sunlight on your skin, and you realize that even your eyelashes are made of starstuff.
