Amanda Noon sat back in her chair and stared out of the window of her office. She had to admit she was going to miss the drama of this view, the fact that she was now looking out above the clouds was only the start of it. Being able to see at least five other buildings also peeking out above the clouds just added to the drama. There was something ( Read more... )

The next hour she spent triggering the last of the security sweeps. Shutting down the building and moving any supplies that would be of use into the shelter. The shelter was well stocked but one extra bottle of water might be the difference to surviving or not.

Finally she moved through the various doors that led to the shelter, sealing them behind her. Each layer of protection would add to her chances of survival, the newsies were fairly certain that the factions had everything from dirty bombs to biological weapons. Most of these she could survive so long as the building she was in did not receive a direct hit. Her brother would be able to see if that happened from the satellite feeds, if that happened there would be no point in sending in a rescue mission. She closed the final door, moved across the room and settled down on the comfy sofa to watch the news channels.
