HALP.

I want to write a novel for Nanowrimo. My problem is that the last time I "won" nanowrimo, I was only 8 chapters in.

This year, I want to do a whole story in 50-60K, and not just the first 1/4 of one.

But I need ideas.

Gimme ideas.

Because I am selfish like that.

personal wiggety-wack, writing in general, halp, nanowrimo

I read the question, and what popped into my about-to-fall-asleep brain was "ask your kid".

Write some serious smut with original characters (or at least with characters with the serial numbers filed off). You can publish novels of anywhere from 35,000 words (at the low end) on up to 100,000+ word blockbusters with the four biggest erotic romance epublishers (Ellora's Cave, Samhain, Loose Id, and Liquid Silver, if you must know).

Fifty thousand words is more than enough to qualify as a novel for any of them. And it's not like you can't get weird. They all publish SF, fantasy, and all kinds of genres.

Assuming, of course, that you might want to try to actually earn a little money from this project.

Just be warned that if you do want to earn some money from this then writing your 50000 wd novel is only the beginning and you end up having to do some serious rewriting and editing. I speak from experience.
I'm STILL working on my 2009 NaNo novel. BUT - I do think I will get it finished one day. I wanted it to be this November - but shit happened. Next November maybe.
