1. Okay, John Sacrimoni of course is a horrible man, but one thing I will give him is that he, unlike a lot Of the others, he genuinely loves Ginny and the girls. Warning--rolling the crust is a pain. it breaks a lot. It must be all the grated cheese. I bought fine already-grated.

That cheese/apple pie sounds good.

Once reason for the fail on the popovers COULD be weather related -- if the humidity was high. Seriously.

I'd try the recipe again on a different-weather day.

You might have a thing there. It wasn't humid, though. even still, they don't have leavening in them, and something about whisking the eggs is supposed to make them rise. I don't get it. I'll try again with a different recipe and see what happens.
