“YAMADAAAAAAAAAAAAA,” the whole room was covered by Yuto’s scream.
“ROFL. Yuto, you should thank to me because I made your face MORE handsome yo,” Yamada replied while holding his stomach since it was painful because he laughed too hard.
“IT’S NOT FUNNY YAMACHAN,” he tried to clean the marks, which Yamada drew, on his face, but failed “you are responsible for doing this to me.”
“What? It’s not my fault. I just couldn’t resist the desire to express my art talent, and I found your face was the best media. So… I made your face more artistic.”
“YOU CALL THIS ART??” Yuto pointed at his full-of-squiggle-everywhere face.
“Yeah, khukhukhu.” He tried to refrain from laughed.
“Oh God, I can’t handle you anymore. I should tell Yabumama about this.” Yuto walked straight away to find the JUMP’s mama.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.” The older boy burst into laughed. He felt so won.
“Yuto, what happened with your face?” Keito met Yuto in the hallway and asked curiously about the terrible thing that befell on him. His expression was mixed between schocked and… disgusted.
“Yamachan tried to express his art talent by drawing my face while I was sleeping,” Yuto answered shortly but explained everything.
“I felt sorry for you ne,” he gave Yuto his best sympathy.
“Thanks Keito…. Oh by the way, do you know where Yabu now?”
“I saw him entered the rehearsal room just know.”
Yabu was looking for Yamada straight away after Yuto told everything he did to him. He should warn Yamada about his habit. After a few minutes go around the Johnny’s building, he found Yamada was sitting enjoying his strawberry cheese cake and strawberry juice in the canteen.
“Yo Yamachan!,” he greeted the greedy boy.
“Bwo hafugun. hwuan dis?” Yamada replied his greeting and offered him his cake with his mouth full of his favorite cake. But Yabu, obviously, couldn’t understand what he said.
“Just swallow your cake first,” he commanded. “Do you mind I sit here?”
Yamada just shook his head. “So, what do you want from me? It’s strange that you suddenly want to enjoy afternoon tea time with me.”
“There is no afternoon tea time in Japan, Yamachan.”
“There is….. in my life.”
“Only you.”
“So.. what is the problem?” Yamada continued ate the cake which a few still left.
“Ne Yamachan, do you think your behavior lately… what should I say… maybe a bit inappropriate huh?” Yabu tried to find the best word to tell the chubby boy in front of him. He looked at Yamada’s eyes straightly to show him that the jump’s mama was very serious about this issue.
“What do you mean? Don’t play joke on me. You almost make me choked,” he drunk the last juice left in the glass hurriedly.
“Do you think I’m joking?”
“NO,” the almost choked boy realized the serious mark in Yabu’s face.
“It will affect your career Yamachan. You should have known when you can make a joke and when you should be more serious. If not, you’ll be stamped as irresponsible boy. It isn’t good for your future either. Johnny-san will see you as unpromising idol anymore, and you won’t get solo songs, your part in our songs will decrease, you should dance in the back, and the worst is… your fans will leave you. You don’t want those kinds to happen right?” Yabu found worry on the younger boy’s face so clearly.
“NO,” he replied quickly. He really worried about his future career. “Doushiyo Yabukun?”
“You ask the right person Yamachan,” he said confidently, “First you have to make sure you can control yourself. You should know how to place yourself in every time.”Yamachan nodded, obeyed. “Then you should change your image to be more mature. Act as your age. Don’t be so immature but don’t be so old too.”
“Okay.”
“The last and the most important is you have to be kind to everyone. I saw all the time, you just made pranks on another member. Sometime it hurt their heart yo although it just a joke. You should make a good impression on them. Do you understand?”
“mmmmm… not really, Yabukun.” Silently Yabu sighed. “But I know what you mean in the last point. I’ll do it,” he grinned to Yabu and then stood up, left Yabu alone sitting at their spot. Yabu saw him carefully until he disappeared and ready to go when…
“Excuse me. You should pay your food before leave Sir,” the waiter said.
“eeeeeh, but I didn’t eat them. My friend did,” Yabu protested.
“It’s no matter who eat and who not. Pay them or I’ll call the security.”
“Geeeeeeez, you bastard Yamachan,” he murmured.
Yamada was heading to rehearsal room when he saw Hikaru who full of shopping goods at both of his hand. It seemed too heavy for him to bring them himself. Yamada ignored him and never thought to help the shiny boy, but he then remembered what Yabu told him before. “…it will affect your career…” “…you have to kind to everyone…” those words kept repeated inside his head. The worry boy thought it was the right time to start everything. He decided Hikaru as his first target.
“Hikaru-kun, may I help you?” Yamada offered.
“WOW,” Hikaru shocked. “It isn’t you. But if you force me… then I have no choice,” he formed his silly grin.
“Who force whom?”
“You force me.”
“I did NOT.”
“Eh, you didn’t?” Hikaru made a goofy expression.
“Why should I?” Yamada was ready to walk away, but Yabu’s words suddenly popped in his head. He canceled his intention. “Let me help you.” He said and took some plastic bags from Hikaru. Hikaru smiled and thanked him.
“By the way, why are you buying a lot of things today? Are you planning making a party tonight?” Yamada asked calmly. He forced himself to form a friendly smile but ended up with a clumsy one. Fortunately, Hikaru didn’t notice it and answered his question lightly.
”Hmmm no,” he shook his head. “I’m planning to make a dinner.”
“Woow dinner?” Yamada showed his enthusiasm. “Let me join you. uun, I mean the making. I’m good at cooking yo. I’ll be a great help.” His narcissism appeared, but in other side, the kind part of him also came out by itself.
“Really? That will be great,” Hikaru said with happy face. “Then after the rehearsal done, let’s go to my house.”
“Yeah,” the shorter boy replied conveniently.
“Inoo-chaaaaaaaaaaan, I bought these for you,” Hikaru gave Inoo a bento. “You’ve worked really hard, at least take a little rest and eat something.”
“I don’t wanna eat a bento. I want something to drink, something cold,” Inoo said harshly while he wiped his sweat.
“Okay, I’ll get it for you,” the younger boy replied and immediately rushed to konbini he went before.
Yamada who saw Hikaru run in hurry felt curious, and then he call his senpai. Hikaru stopped and turned around at Yamada. The younger boy run towards him and stopped in the right time before he collided onto Hikaru.
“Where are you going Hikaru-kun?” Yamada asked panting.
“Oh I wanna go to the konbini to buy a drink for Inoo.”
This is the right time to be kind, Yamada thought. He was planning to take Hikaru’s place. “Ouww, coincidentally, I wanna go there too. I’ll buy it for Inoochan. You can do something more important,” he grinned.
“Eh really? Then, I’m counting on you,” Hikaru gave Yamada the money, and then he went to the rehearsal room.
After 15 minutes, Yamada came back with the drink. He gave it to Hikaru, and Hikaru gave it to Inoo.
“It’s not cold Yaotome,” Inoo always call Hikaru with his surname when he got angry at him, “I said I want a COLD drink. Do you even know what cold mean, huh?”
“Ah gomenasai Inoochan. I’ll get another one for you. Wait here,” he bowed to show his apology. Yamada who saw it also felt guilty, because somehow, the one who bought it was him. He caught Hikaru and offered his self to buy the substitute but Hikaru refused. Yamada felt guiltier. It was not go according to he had imagined. When he realized, Hikaru had gone from his sight. He sighed, and took a seat near Inoo. He was gloomy and felt guilty. When he was absorbed by his own thought, suddenly the door swung opened, and Hikaru entered the room in a rush. He handed a can of coffee to Inoo, but Inoo’s reaction surely surprised him.
“I don’t want coffee Hikaru. I’m sick of drinking it every night because I’ve to stay late to do my homework. Get me another one. Hurry up, I almost die because of thirst,” Inoo said rudely to the gasping boy with a cold expression on his face.
“Oh I’m sorry again Inoochan. I’ll get the right drink this time. Wait for me, I won’t be so long.” Hikaru was ready to go again when suddenly someone hand held him, causing him to stop.
“Yamachan?” the held boy asked surprisingly. Inoo looked at both of the (gentle) boys in front of him.
“Can you just buy it by yourself? YOU SLOTH,” Yamada couldn’t restrain his anger. He was angry about how Inoo acted towards Hikaru. The beautiful boy didn’t respect Hikaru’s kindness and acted rudely to the kind boy.
“SLOTH?” Inoo widened his eyes in shock “What happened with you Yamachan? Have you drunk the wrong medicine?” He still could hold his patient.
“That’s my line. Inoochan, did you drink the wrong medicines? Can’t you just accept this coffee instead making Hikaru to and fro the conbini?”
“It’s not my fault. He gave me a bento, and because I just wanted to drink, he offered to buy me a drink. I said I wanted the cold one, but he didn’t buy the right drink. He, himself, wanted to buy another one, and it was his fault because he bought a can of coffee. I didn’t want to drink coffee. And he, again, himself, willingly to buy another kind of drinks. So, where is my fault located?” he seemed to a little impatient about Yamada’s protested.
“Then, why don’t you buy it yourself?” Yamada insisted.
“Because he offered,” Inoo didn’t want to lose.
“And then.. why don’t you just accept his kindness by receive the coffee?”
“I don’t want coffee Yamachan. Did you know what DO NOT WANT means, huh? What did you get from the school?”
“YOU…” Yamada’s sentence was cut by Hikaru.
“STOP IT !!!” Hikaru commanded.
“Yamachan, thank you for the attention you give to me, but… I’m fine, really. I was willingly to buy a drink for him. I didn’t mind at all, it’s a pleasure for me. So… can you loose your hand? It hurts me.”
“Oh sorry,” Yamada said.
“See, he said himself,” Inoo felt much win. He was happy inside.
“You….” Yamada gave Inoo an angry-lion glare, “Let’s see next,” He murmured.
The dance instructor had come. Yamada still felt worth at Inoo about the earlier incident. He looked at Hikaru, who was exhausted and sweating, pitiful. He really wanted spill his anger out towards Inoo, but the rehearsal would start momentarily, so he just kept it inside his mind. Moreover, he remembered what Yabu had told him.
Yamada couldn’t shift his eyes from Inoo and Hikaru. That’s why he clearly saw what happened to them.
“Inoo-kun, your legs movements are wrong. You should flinging out your legs wider and then turn around 180o. After that you have to hold your balance,” the instructor chewed out.
“Ah sumimasen,” Inoo replied respectfully, but actually, inside his mind, he wanted to curse the annoyed man.
But after he tried it many times, he still didn’t do it.
“You are helpless ne. You dance like a kindergarten’s student. I give up on you. You’d better practice by yourself, or you’ll be a shame for your group,” the instructor rapped out to Inoo before he ended the dance lesson today.
“THAT MAN…..” he thought. He clenched his palms. Hikaru was afraid of Inoo’s angry face. It looked like a bear which was being disturbed during his hibernation. Yamada took a glance at the angry boy and immediately turn his face away right after he looked at Inoo’s face.
When everyone went home, Inoo still in the rehearsal room looked at himself trough the giant mirror. Suddenly Hikaru came in.
“What? Do you want to blame me too?” Inoo asked harsly.
“Iie. I’m worrying you,” Hikaru smiled at him. The angelic side of him appeared.
“You think I’m that miserable huh?” still with the cold tone.
“No no no. I never think you are miserable yo. I worry and wonder has Inoo-chan found his confidence? Ah maybe he has a lot of university’s task and it made him a bit exhausted,” Hikaru explained.
“Aaaaaaaaaaa. Do you think I can really do that movement? I failed many times.”
“I believe you can do it. Since you are my Inoo-chan,” Hikaru gave him the warm smile. His words made Inoo’s cheeks redden. But before he could reply what his partner said, suddenly Yamada popped up with the earlier shopping goods.
He wanted to ask when they should went to Hikaru’s home to prepare the dinner, but changed his mind when he saw the funny boy standing closely to Inoo.
“What are you doing here?” he asked like a police who was in the middle of interrogating a burglar.
“I’m talking to Inoo. You…” his sentence was cut by Inoo.
“What is your business, little brat?”
“WHAT? What you said?” Yamada shocked until he dropped the plastic full of the shopping goods.
“Are you deaf? I said, what’s your business, LITTLE BRAT?” this time he gave more accent at the two last words.
“I’M NOT A LIITLE BRAT. YOU HOLY S*** B***H.”
“YOUUUUUU… DON’T YOU DARE CALL ME WITH THOSE…”
“STOP IT !!!!!!!!!” Hikaru screamed, “This is the second time I stop you from fighting. What happened to both of you?”
Nobody answered Hikaru. Neither Yamada nor Inoo. They kept silent while their mind was decrying each other.
“Well, if you don’t want to answer me, it’s fine,” Hikaru sighed. He then picked to shopping goods from the floor. Yamada helped him. Inoo too helped Hikaru, didn’t want to lose to the brat in front of him.
“You stay away from me… and Hikaru,” Inoo said in whisper.
“It was me who should say like that. Don’t come closer to me… and HIKARU-KUN,” Yamada also replied in whisper.
“Huh, what can you do? You just a burden for Hikaru. G-O A-W-A-Y.”
“I’m not,” they fought in whisper while helping Hikaru.
“Stop stop stop it, you guys. You fought like an elementary kids,” Hikaru couldn’t pretend shut his ears anymore.
“Eh you can hear?” both Yamada and Inoo asked in unison.
“Of course I can,” Hikaru felt that his fellows were a bit stupid.
“Why were you here?” Yamada asked sarcastically. They were at Hikaru’s kitchen, helping Hikaru prepare the dinner. Inoo was chopping the onion, while Yamada stirring the soup. Yamada didn’t like Inoo’s presence there.
“I’m helping my beloved friend. Am I did something wrong, huh?” the older boy replied nonchalantly.
“You really make me sick!!,” Yamada murmured.
“What?,” Inoo looked at Yamada sceptically.
“Nothing,” the shorter coldly answered.
“I know you said something bad about me.” Inoo stopped chopping, and gave Yamada a death gaze. But the later wasn’t aware of it.
“Y A M A D A, I’m talking to you,” he seemed couldn’t restrain his patient anymore.
“I didn’t want to talk to you,” Yamada said while he still concentrated making the soup.
“Hey, tell me why you hate me that much?” he pulled Yamada.
“Because you are ANNOYING.”
“What? Have I done something unpleasant to you?” Inoo widened his eyes.
“Not to me, but to Hikaru-kun.”
“Stiil about him? Oh God, you hate me just because Hikaru?”
“Eh?What about me?” suddenly Hikaru popped out from dining hall.
Inoo glared at him, and it made the goofy boy turned back to the where he came from before.
“You were mean to him,” Yamada raised his pitch.
“Since when you care about him?” they argued, hold each other views.
“Since I decided to become a good boy and kind man.”
“You could never be that kind of man.”
“I can.”
“You can’t.”
“CAN.”
“CAN NOT.”
“I CAN INOO CHAN. WHY ARE YOU SO MEANT?” Yamada cried. He pulled his apron off and run outside. But when he passed the dining hall, he stopped.
“HAPPY SWEET SEVENTEEN YAMADA RYOSUKE.” He surprised. There were all Jump’s members. At the table he saw huge birthday cake with his name on it and strawberry everywhere. He still sobbed, but it clearly drew on his face his happy feeling. Inoo came out from kitchen and hugged Yamada tightly.
“I’m really sorry to be mean to you Yamachan,” he caressed Yamada’s hair softly, “It’s impossible for me to do that to you, since you are a very very kind ‘brat’. You’re just like a little brother for me.”
“There is no brat who is kind, Inoo,” Yabu corrected.
“Whatever,” Inoo replied while releasing his hug. The others laughed,Yamada as well.
“So, you were acted all this time?” the still sobbing boy asked.
“It was Yabu’s idea,” Hikaru gave a little explanation.
“Yabu acted to tell you to be kind, and Hikaru and Inoo were the main actor, while the rest of us prepared for this,” Chinen added.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.” Suddenly someone cried, and it was Hikaru.
“What happened, Hikaru-kun?” Yamada asked worriedly.
“I’m starving, can you hurriedly slice the cake. It’s needling to be eaten.” He gave a sparkling look.
