Although I do think you could've made it a bit more... well, as if either one of them was actually worried. (Contraception, for example.)There is a reason (as there is with everything that I write, really) that I did it this way. This was kind of like what my first time was like. Despite the fact that I knew all about birth control, and so did he, we were fooling around one day and it just happened. And I was SO. SCARED I would be pregnant. When I realized it afterwards, it was like a slap in the face with reality. I ended up having to tell my mom and she got me birth control right then. Ah, well, in that sense, I understand it. And well, it's not like they carry condoms with them 24/7. Jacob isn't that hopeful and Bella's boyfriend's a bit too old-fashioned for Bella to be that hopeful.
In the literal heat of the moment (see what I did there?), no, even Bella would've done that in canon.
Of course, she still has to pay for what she did in Reality and Dreams.
