I was aiming for that short glimpse, and a bit hazy too. I'm glad to hear I succeeded in creating that.

Indeed, Herbert is adorable, and I love to read fics with him and Krolock. Tanz raises interesting questions on whether vampires can love, but I do feel that if Krolock ever loved anyone, it was Herbert.

You did that very well. I like how Krolock is lost in his thoughts but Herbert keeps interrupting them, kind of taking him back to reality. And the image of Krolock picking up Herbert and carrying him back to the castle is just super adorable!

It's funny, in the musical I don't really like Herbert much as a character. There's so much more that could be done with him... but in fiction (if they're done well) or just when you think about him as a character outside of that short story that is the musical I really, really like him.

I'd imagine Herbert would absolutely hate not getting his father's attention. So Krolock is kind of torn between his own musings and the reality, where his son still is. The Count is precisely that angsty type who in a way loves his misery, but Herbert is nothing like that, which makes their relationship interesting
