LUSH shampoo

Sep 06, 2005 22:48

I've just joined a community called "longhair" only to find out that sodium laureth sulfate or sulphate is the no.1 chemical to avoid in hair products and LUSH use this in their American cream!

Waaaa!

I'm not entirely sure, but the other baddie is any silicon product in shampoos and conditioners.

Your hair is in wonderful condition so perhaps SLS isn't so bad...

Sodium laureth sulphate...

If you think it's bad in hair care products, be very glad you're not one of the tens of thousands of people in the UK who are prone to mouth ulcers.

No, we don't gargle shampoo.

Sodium Lauryl sulphate is used as a foaming agent in almost every brand of toothpaste available in the shops. Not as a cleaning, or antibacterial or fluoridating compound: as a purely cosmetic effect like the suds in washing powder. And for about 0.2% of the population (which is a lot of people, we're not talking nut allergies) it's a more effective blistering agent than Lewisite.
