Hi, just dropping in randomly on my f-list and pleased this community is still there. I think there's nothing to be guilty about with Salieri. It is after all what the movie wants to do and succeeds in doing with most viewers. But it's still nice to find people who think alike. :-D
And yay for Keenlyside! Who btw was a really good Billy Budd too, it seems. Maybe the similarities are also in the fact that Billy has this weird and alienating habit of stuttering, like Mozart's weird giggle. Ack, that does sound superficial, doesn't it?

And i also see a paralel in that the enemy knows very well they're special (and angsts about the love/hate thing).

I adore Mozart's giggle. He's so adorably silly.
