I didn't think the ramen at this outlet was as good as many people had raved about. Although I concede I did have pretty high expectations after all the positive reviews.
Don't get me wrong, it's still very decent ramen.
I thought the other stuff were interesting though - the char siew with mayo rice! Very sinful!
Miso is the Japanese thick paste that comes in different shades of yellow- darker means it's more salty. Soup is usually cloudy. Shoyu is like soy sauce base and soup is clearer. Shio is the one that I usually order. Soup is whitish and thick. Actually all soup types are saltish.
i like any porkbone base ramen. i recently tried tampopo black pork spicy ramen... it wasnt as good as i tot. the non-spicy version which my hb tried is better. marutama's very oily. i look like i'm wearing lip gloss after a meal there. aoba's ramen at ion orchard is too saltish for me.
I usually take the hokkaido ramen at Tampopo. Comes with a slice of pork and and egg. Agree on Marutama! I've not tried AOBA because I didn't hear positive reviews on it and being too salty was one of it!
i am glad to hear that the ippudo you ramen had in NY tasted nothing like the one in SG. I went there when I was on leave (at ungodly 3pm to avoid the lunch crowd) and went away unsatisfied. I thought it was me!!
