I usually don't eat dim sum much in HK coz tbh I don't think the standard is higher than what we can get in Singapore or even Sydney/Melbourne. I suppose it's coz there are so many good HK chefs in these cities anyway. Although this trip our family friends did bring us to a very traditional teahouse. It's madness though! You have to fight for a table (no number system or reservation) and when the carts of dimsum come out everyone just runs to it and grab so if you are not fast/pushy enough you don't get any food. Crazy!
Ooh. There was a traditional teahouse that we were recommended but we didnt go in in the end because it was like what you said - a madhouse and there were two thoughts on whether it was good or not.
