My Husband's Mayflower Ancestors

I prepared this for my husband's family back in May, in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Mayflower landing. I'm sharing it here to help other genealogists and for those who are interested in American history.

That's cool that your SO used to work with the Mayflower Society. I probably should contact that. I'm fairly certain that if I show them the connection to the Wilcox line, they should be able to take it from there, as it's a very well-documented line. That's one of the most wonderful things about researching my husband's maternal line. Being descended from old families in Massachusetts certainly makes the research easier ( ... )

Combination of small families + "recent" (i.e., early 1900s) immigration? Definitely on my mother's side but most of my grandmother's family stayed in Greece. Only she and two of her brothers came over here. They married her off to my grandfather, then they both married themselves. Neither of them had children. One stayed in and around the central MA/NH border mill towns while the other eventually moved to the Chicago area. I remember my mother telling me how she'd make the train trek out there every summer with my grandmother to visit them ( ... )
