LJI9 Week 19 - Migraine

Aug 26, 2014 13:46

This is my entry for this week of LJ Idol, Season 9. Please check out the entries of my fellow competitors and consider joining the therealljidol community. This week's topic was "Kindling." I wrote a prose poem, unfortunately based on my experiences from yesterday.

Nothing makes you appreciate the every day normal like pain. )

lj idol, lji, pain, poetry

I hardly ever get migraines, but I feel for you!

*quiet hugs*

Yes, it's definitely no fun. Feeling better today, though!

I've only had a couple of migraines, but my mom used to get them all the time. I learned very quickly that when Mommy is lying on her bed with her arm over her eyes it's time to take all noise to the front of the house and don't bother her. *hugs*

That sounds VERY familiar. Truth be known, your presence was sometimes probably the thing that helped to keep her anchored. There is nothing like knowing my child is around to make me start to feel a little better.

You never quite appreciate just normality until you have a day where you're not feeling right!

i sometimes get really bad headaches, and my mom used to get migraines because they run in her family, but it's never been that bad for me. your description is very vivid and i hope you're in less pain now!

I am. It seems strange to say, but once you get accustomed to it, you actually don't get so upset. It's just irritating, honestly, because it disrupts my day.

I've only had this happen once...not DXed officially, but I had to wear sunglasses inside and not watch TV. My kids were little too. It's an awful feeling. AW

Fortunately, I don't have a terribly light sensitivity, although I have on occasion gotten the visual disturbances.
