I want to see The Other Woman, but I'm a bit worried about where it's going to go with it. My hope is that, as the trailer implies, it deconstructs the idea that "the other woman is a bitch and stole my boyfriend/husband/crush*" with blame/revenge being placed on the guy for once, but I've hoped for that sort of thing before and been disappointed.
I loved "Dreamgirls", partly for those reasons really - there was a character who became "the other woman", but IIRC some of it was due to a misunderstanding, and in the end they chose each other. I like that.
*This one bugs me the most. You never had the guy...
It's so hard to tell from trailers, but I love Cameron Diaz as a comic actor and am hoping for the best. You're right: It does look as if the women who initially had every reason to dislike each other end up teaming up. I only hope they don't end up warring over a guy at the end!
"Dreamgirls" was such an interesting movie for what it said not just about female friendships but about what it takes to be female and succeed in the recording industry. And of course, it's got my girl, Jennifer Hudson.
