I'm looking for ideas for things our family can do to benefit children, pets and the environment.

What a wonderful idea!

For pets, perhaps donations to the local animal shelters are a good way to start. They usually need supplies like towels, pet toys, old (clean) sheets, etc.

For children, consider taking food/gifts to local shelters. There are a fair number of women and children who are on the streets, and sometimes a simple gift like new undergarments or toys/books make all the difference.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been going through things and discovered some dog items that might be appreciated. I'll ask the local animal organization we got our cat through.

Your suggestion of taking food and gifts to local shelters is an intriguing one, too. I'll see what I can find out.
