When S was around 3, he started having nightmares about something called the Zig Zag Dragon. I think it was to do with the shadows over his door when I turned off the light. So I made up stories about the Zig Zag Dragon, and his friend, the Fruity Melon Monster (who featured in another of S' nightmares) and it became a really good way of diffusing his fears. Even now (aged 5) he LOVES stories about himself and his family, and doing things with his siblings/the ZZD/the FMM without me or his father. I think the idea is that they go off on adventures and we're none the wiser, and it's that whole Enid Blyton-esque 'children's world vs adult reality' that he enjoys.

T (aged 4) has never been that keen on homemade stories. I'm yet to try them out with J because she's still a bit little (19 months). All of them are into rhymes and repetition, though.

Sounds like a fantastic way to use Nano!
