It's Christmas morning, and I'm unable to sleep. After our Kung Fu Panda woke up an hour ago for a diaper change, I came out to the living room and am sitting with the lit Christmas tree, writing while I wait for everyone else to wake up ( Read more... )

Merry Christmas!

I tried going back to sleep but it's a lost cause. SO's up there snoozing away. Just as well -- I've got appetizers to make.

So I'm not the only one! Merry Christmas! I expect a full report on all of your Christmas delicacies so I can vicariously enjoy them.

Well, I've been making spinach dip since I was 10 or 11 years old, I think? Thawed frozen spinach, light mayo, light sour cream, scallions, chopped water chestnuts, and an envelope of the Knorr vegetable soup mix. Former Employer used to carry this great dark seeded pumpernickel bread called "Black Forest Rye" that went perfectly with this. Now nobody carries it -- I think the company that made the dough must have gone out of business. So now I substitute Current Employer's far inferior (IMO) pumpernickel boule.

This is the stuffed mushroom recipe. It's worth springing for the marscapone, trust me! This time I didn't realize I had picked up hot turkey sausage, so I'm hoping the marscapone will tone it down

I'm bringing Current Employer's white chocolate raspberry cheesecake as my dessert contribution. It probably won't be touched (it wasn't last year -- we're really not a big dessert crowd), but at least it'll be a non chocolate-chocolate option. Plus I was told not to bring pie.

I've written so many cop stories,
I found myself thinking,
"Home is where the extradition is to..."

Hmmm...

We had all been extradited, but some of us were extradited on more charges than others.
