On the Trail of an Assassin

I was sufficiently recovered from my cold this weekend to play Confed, the role-playing game created by The Cheshire Cat, who also serves as GM. This was a special session, held because our friend, The Court Wizard, was in town.

Read how the Vandervecken crew tracked down a pirate assassin. )

Man, I didn't do much at all. Maybe it'll help once I get Katya's character sheet put back together; at least half the time I wasn't sure she actually had the skills to do something interesting. At least I got a couple of good lines in... Katya seems to have acquired a rather deadpan sense of humor from somewhere.

I suspect the way every one of the players was either sick or exhausted or both contributed to how that firefight went down. :)

It's very cool that you're writing up these sessions!

Actually, I thought Katya did a very good job of investigating from the military and security standpoint. That's not something that the other characters were able to do. Don't underestimate the value of your input. Last session, I didn't do much except bake some cookies and make a couple smart comments, and yet my participation in the Big Brain sessions was enough to add up to a nice amount of XP.

But yes, you're right about the bad rolls. It was a particularly bad night for Liang-Tze in those terms. He usually kicks -- well, everything! After all, he is a Shaolin monk.

Aha!

So *you* are Katya. Okay. I'm picturing you all as you play now. Except for Johann.

Johann is played by Bill, whom you've met via the Otakon LARP. He's a GM who played the NPC Zangar Zanbolt in '07.

Who is Katya? and who played Johann?

Curious, I am.

Also, someday my character will get to meet Taiwan. All the little robots in the air ducts have told her about him. They worship him as a god.

Let's just say that Taiwan deserves his last name, MacGyver. He does have a tendency to fix things in a rather quirky way, though, and there are often Post-It notes pasted to them that say things like, "Do NOT crank this past 7 or it will explode." Taiwan is a lot of fun. Hopefully, The Martial Artist will play him again sometime when I'm there.

What character do you have? I've never played Confed with you!
