There are some videos on youtube entitled things like "How to play the (insert instrument name here)" and all I have to say about this clarinet one is please do not tell any clarinet student to put the instrument together as instructed by this video (that is unless you want to teach improper things and have them breaking reeds and mouthpieces on a ( Read more... )

HAH. that was amusing. i love how when she first pulled the mouthpiece out, the reed was still on it. i always start from the bottom -> up when i put mine together. they started from the barrel, went down, and then to the mouthpiece, which was already on while they were putting the rest of the clarinet on. i ALSO love how she smiled after everything, haha..anyway.

i seriously hope no one watches that with the intention of actually learning much.

Did you notice in that video also, that not only was the reed still on the mouthpiece when she pulled it out, but sometime during the video it actually said to keep a clean dry reed in your case for that purpose. What people actually teach young clarinet players to keep a reed on the mouthpiece? What good is that supposed to do? Yeah, I also noticed that they instructed to put the mouthpiece on after putting the clarinet together, but that the mouthpiece had been on it the whole time (which is so very safe to do...)
