Even before he was here I knew I didn't stand a chance. Granted I didn't always like him. He was kind of... annoying when he was younger, and the way he acted like the lab was 'his' pissed more than a few people off, but...
I'unno... he impressed me a lot when he decided to become a CSI. Working with him, I got to find out he wasn't just some spazzy geek. He's actually got a good head on his shoulders.

It sucks. It sucks a lot. It's hard to see past that person when it feels like they're all you could ever care about. Even harder to admit it, to yourself or to some one else.
[there's another sigh, and a sad smile]
But he's happy with Sabine. He's got his family here. I'm glad for that. We all went through a lot of crap in the past couple of years and he deserves to be happy, even if it's been a bumpy road for him so far.
Look... think about it, but don't keep ignoring it. You're the only one who can figure it out and you're not gonna do that by acting like there's nothing there at all. There's something. I can tell. Even if I'm not exactly right.
