For three summers when I was a teenager, I worked as a camp counselor for a YMCA overnight camp. All the counselors had "camp names" like Spider and Java and Willow and Flea and whatever. Emily was eight and she chose my camp name for me: Sunshine because I always sang You Are My Sunshine to her. My last year as a counselor, the summer before college, Steal my Sunshine by Len was really popular. I mean it was EVERYWHERE. It's a super annoying, stupid song to begin with but people thought it was hilarious to play it all the time when I was around, and every Thursday evening at the camp dance they'd play it. I was painfully shy back then. To the point that every tiny thing embarrassed me and I hated to have any sort of attention directed at me. So the whole thing was just excruciating for me.
