OH MY GOD, MY HEART. Are you trying to kill me? This entire thing was so painful to read, but that end was like a sucker punch. Beautiful and tragic.

Very intense and sad.

Though I didn't get the last line. Was John saying their mother was a monster (literal or figuratively)? Or implying that she got John started in this 'hunting monsters' thing (she was the delusional one?) and he passed it on to the boys? Did John just use monsters as an excuse to kill women and knew they weren't literal monsters? Does John think Sam is a 'monster' because of his mother?

Whatever way you meant it-or one I didn't guess-this was still an interesting fic.

Oh man, so many options I didn't consider. I didn't actually mean any one thing by the last line, more open to interpretation. I guess I was thinking John considers Sam's mother's death the work of a monster, though somewhere inside him he rationally knew that there was no such thing as monsters. And maybe that she died because of Sam, and Sam's a monster too. Whichever you prefer.
